Pedestrian density in the GTA series has never been a simple matter of "more is better"; it is a negotiated equilibrium between CPU and memory budgets, behavioural ambition, and the specific identity each city is meant to project. The trajectory from GTA III's thin sidewalks to San Andreas's behaviourally varied but numerically constrained crowds, through IV's dense and Euphoria-reactive Liberty City, to V's gradient-driven Los Santos demonstrates a consistent design principle: crowds are the connective tissue of place. Each technical advance has been reinvested not merely in larger numbers but in finer distinctions between districts, making the cities feel inhabited rather than merely populated.
